I must give something to this world! - interview with Emília Lovas

Emília Lovas, the actress performing “Chameleon Girl” openly talks  about her life in this video. She has always felt that she must give something to the world and she found her calling in acting. The play 'Chameleon Girl' presents the everyday Roma heroes through real life stories of university students. We want to emphasise  that the people in these stories are not victims as this play voices out a rather positive narrative. We get to know the story of a young girl who first tried to fit in with her decisions, to blend into her environment as a chameleon. Emilia's message to the youngsters is no matter how difficult it is, you shall always go on and be brave enough to change your life.

We are all born with gifts! - interview with Sebastian Spinella

Having a serious job or acting? Sebastian makes an honest confession about his origin and how he left his family at a young age for the art career and started to work as a travelling circus and performing artist. At the beginning, he earned his living as a street musician and street performer, and later joined companies and theatres. His own identity is still uncertain because his relatives have concealed the Roma origin of his grandmother. All this resulted in him returning to Italy a few years later and start working with stateless Roma children in whom no one else believed. Sebastian's message to us is "each one of us has his own special unique gift that no one else in the world has. Find that and this will lead you through life."

Alex Fifea talks about his roots, family background and Gypsy identity. Theatre has been an important part of his life since his childhood, that is why he studied acting. Alex currently works as a freelance actor. Alex believes that "the social message of theatre and the importance of society in theatre" are the most important. Nataliya graduated from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Bulgaria as a scolarship student. She had to face several difficulties because of her origin and financial situation. For her, "performing art makes it possible to give voice to her opinion" – that is why she chose acting and this is what helped her to accept her identity. Her play Gypsy Wheels is about people who have been discriminated because of their origin. "No one shall go into hiding, we have to be ourselves and I believe that Roma theatre can make a change."

Franciska Farkas shares her thoughts on her career in the theatre, her Gypsy identity, her pride and her own hero: her mother. She makes an honest confession about why she chose acting: "I've tried several things, had many jobs, but where I can give the most of myself that's acting." Her hero is her mother, Ágnes Farkas journalist, first in the family with a university degree. "I got my strength and curiosity from her". Franciska's message to the youngsters is: "you are human, just like anyone else, you have a right to everything. Stand tall, be brave and proud, and do whatever you feel like."

Is studying important for you? Michael Collins tells us about his storyteller roots, Gypsy identity and Traveller life and everydays. His father was a Traveller singer and storyteller and Michael followed his footsteps. He was robbed of his education thus as an adult, he studied to become an actor. His goal is to speak about the life and challenges of Traveller communities in the frame of theatre.
